The Model BIT is a cast iron basket strainer can be used in applications for steam, water, oil or gas where protection from foreign matter in a pipeline is required.
They are constructed from cast iron castings with a machined basket seat for quality. Perforated 304 stainless steel screens are welded along the seam for maximum strength. If the media is not specified, screens for water will be supplied. Options include epoxy coating and galvanizing, special flange drilling, and the addition of magnets.
Non-Shock Working Pressure is 250psi at 400F for steam, and 400psi at 150F for Water/Oil/Gas (WOG).
Cleaning of the strainer is accomplished by removing the cover and pulling out the basket. The high pressure/temperature gasket between the body and cover is spiral wound 304 stainless steel. The BIT strainers have carbon steel hex head cap screws and come with a tapped and plugged NPT drain connection.
Meets government specification WW-S-2239 (supersedes MIL-S-16293).
For larger sizes, see the Model BIF iron strainer with flanges, and for the duplex version for cleaning without shutdown, see the Model DIT.
See the maintenance instructions for more detailed information on servicing the strainer, and the submittal sheet for addtional technical data.
